Baltic amber is a fossil resin produced by pine trees which grew in Northern Europe about 50 million years ago.
Colours of amber. As no other kind of amber in the world, Baltic amber is marked by a great wealth of varieties,
resalting from its internal structure, inclusions and degree of weathering.
Usually Baltic amber is yellow or bright yellowish. The colours of amber range from
white, yellow, brown to red. There is greenish, bluish, grey and even black amber.
Amber can be absolutely transparent or absolutely opaque.
Amber is not always one-coloured: the unique combinations of two or more colours and
shades can be found. For these reasons amber becomes attractive, charming and unique.
It has been used as materials for ornaments and amber jewellery since Palaeolithic.
Amber is not only a semiprecious stone,
but also a witness of life dating back to at least 40 million years.
Inclusions in the form of small animals and fragments of plants are great material
for palaeontologists and a subject of interest of hobbyists and collectors.
According to ancient myths, amber is tears shed into the Eridanus by Heliads grieving
after the death of their brother Phaethon, who was thrown into the river;
rays of the setting sun hardened in the depths of the sea.
A legend from Polish region Kurpie has it that amber is human tears
from the time of the forty-day rain, and according to a Kashubian legend
It comes from "this lightning that strike so loud".
Healing power of Amber. Amber is believed to provide physical and spiritual benefits to its wearer.

chakra cleanser and healer. Wear on the naked skin, amber jewellery such as necklaces,
pendants, bracelets or rings absorbing pain and negative energy,

It treats the throat, stomach, kidneys, bladder,
liver and gallbladder, alleviates joint problems.
Psychologically, Amber brings stability to life but also motivates by
linking what is wished for to the drive to achieve it.
Mentally, amber stimulates the intellect, clears depression, and promotes a
positive mental state and creative self- expression.
Care of amber
Because of its softness and vulnerability to chemicals of amber requires some special care in handling and storing, so please:
A) Do not put your amber jewellery on before hairspray and perfume is applied,
because it will likely create a white coating on the amber that may be permanent.
M) Never put your amber earrings, amber bracelet, amber pendant, amber brooch or amber ring in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner,
which would shatter the gem.
B) Never let amber come in contact with strong solutions, soaps, detergents, commercial jewelry cleaning solutions.
E) All of these can dull the finish and give a white coating.
Keep the amber jewellery away from common kitchen substances such as lard, salad oil, butter and excessive heat of ovens and burners.
R) Use only special wipes and a soft flannel cloth to clean your amber jewellery.
